Weddings ::
Music plays an absolutely vital role in every aspect of the wedding celebrations, setting the tone for the entire ceremony and creating a relaxing atmosphere for your guests during the drinks reception and meal. In all of this, the beautiful sounds of the classical guitar can provide the perfect musical accompaniment for your special day.
Though the music is yet one more thing to have to make decisions about, I'm here to help as much as possible with information to make those decisions easier.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What music should we use in the ceremony?
I usually start playing as the guests are arriving, a mixture of light classics and popular arrangements. This music welcomes the guests and provides a background while they're being seated and as the excitement builds to the bride's entrance. The actual ceremony can include any musical selections you wish--it's your wedding, so feel free to ask for what you want, and I can play it! What follows are some suggestions which may help for the different parts of the ceremony.

The entrance of the bride
The most famous entrance piece is the Bridal Chorus ("Here Comes the Bride") by Richard Wagner. Other possibilites include Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (J.S. Bach) the Canon in D by Pachelbel or any other piece you may desire.
Incidentally, no need to worry about standing around waiting for the piece to finish--when everyone is in place I will artistically wind it up.

Special Music
If the couple wishes, music can be incorporated into other parts of the ceremony

During the signing of the registry
This can be anything, really. Music is used to provide a background while the couple does the paperwork. Without a specific request, I would probably go with something like "Recuerdos de la Alhambra" or Lloyd-Webber's "All I Ask of You".

Recessional (when the newly-married couple leaves the altar)
The traditional choice is the upbeat and joyous Wedding March by Mendelssohn, but again, if you have a different idea, just let me know and I can make it happen.  Whether you go with the traditional choices or something unusual, my job is to make the music sound just right for your wedding.

The Reception
The classical guitar can provide the perfect atmosphere for the reception. My repertoire includes hours of music ranging from the classics to Spanish music, jazz standards, show tunes and pop arrangements--the ideal accompaniment for sipping a glass of wine and congratulating the happy newly-married couple.

Do we need you need to be at the rehearsal?
No. As long as I have a schedule of the ceremony and your specific musical requirements, you don't need to pay me to come to the rehearsal.

Can we make a special request?
Absolutely. As long as I have at least four weeks advance notice, I can make an effective solo guitar arrangement of just about anything you choose.

Can you play outside?
No problem, as long as it's not raining. I use a small amplification system that provides the perfect volume inside or out. Just make sure there's an electrical outlet within a long extension lead's distance.

Do we need to meet to discuss the details?
I am happy to meet with you if there are any questions or arrangements that can't be handled on the phone or by e-mail.

What is your fee?
My usual fees are €275 for the first hour, and €75 for each additional hour.

What do we do next?
It's simple--just send me an email kurtkb@gmail.com with some details of your requirements. I'll let you know if I'm free, and will certainly be delighted to help with any queries you might have. I'll email you back (or phone if you prefer) and we can take it from there.
